Maui Makers is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit makerspace on Maui. We collect only what we need to answer your questions, book your visit, and run memberships. We never sell your information. This page covers what we collect and why.
What we collect
- Contact details you give us: your name, phone number, email, and a company name if you represent a business.
- What you ask about:the membership you're interested in, when you'd like to visit, and any notes or questions you share.
- Payment confirmations: when you donate or pay dues through PayPal (see below).
When you call us
Carver, an automated voice assistant, may answer our phone line instead of a person. Carver handles common questions and books shop tours. When you talk to it, it saves the details you give: your name, phone number, email, the membership you asked about, and when you'd like to visit. It also keeps a short summary of the call so a team member can follow up. A third-party voice service powers Carver and processes what you say during the call. Ask for a person anytime.
Donations and payments
PayPal processes donations and membership payments. We never see or store your card or bank details; PayPal handles those. We receive only a confirmation: your name and that a payment went through, so we can update our records.
How we use your information
- Answer your questions and requests
- Schedule and confirm shop tours
- Set up and run your membership, including sending the agreement and waiver
- Keep records of members and donations
- Reach you about your membership or a visit you asked for
Where your information goes
We use a few outside services to run the makerspace:
- PayPal, for donations and membership payments
- A customer records system, where we keep your contact details and follow-up notes
- A voice service, which powers our phone assistant
- Google Maps, for the map on this site (loading it involves Google)
Each one handles your information only to do its job for us.
What we don't do
- Sell, rent, or trade your information
- Run advertising trackers
- Use analytics that follow you across other sites
Your information, your choices
We keep your information only as long as we need it to run the makerspace and our membership records. Want to see, change, or delete what we hold about you? Email mauimakers808@gmail.com and we'll take care of it.
